Overview

Go Food is a food delivery app, which mainly operates in Ghana, Germany, and the United Kingdom and its position within the industry is a start-up beginner. The client wanted us to address multiple language translation and currency conversion issues.

Considering multi-regional operations, the client encountered significant hurdles due to its diverse user base speaking multiple languages and using different currencies. The need for efficient language translation and currency conversion solutions became imperative for its growth and user satisfaction. Go Food approached us to resolve these challenges. The project timeline was approximately one month for solution exploration and implementation, with India serving as a testing ground.

Multiple Language Translation & Currency Conversion were the two main challenges faced by Go Food.

  • Currency Conversion: As a multi-national service, Go Food had to display prices and process transactions in various currencies accurately.

We aimed to provide Go Food with robust solutions for language translation and currency conversion to enhance user experience and facilitate business expansion across different regions seamlessly.

Our Approach

  1. Language Translation: We collected language translation sheets from the client and meticulously compared and updated all app content. The team manually updated the database with translated content to ensure accuracy and consistency across the platform.
  2. Currency Conversion: To tackle currency conversion issues, we integrated a third-party API. This API facilitated real-time currency conversion, updating exchange rates every hour from the backend. This approach ensured that users always saw accurate prices in their local currency.

Node.js was utilized for the backend to facilitate seamless communication between the app and the server.
Native Android with Kotlin:
The Android mobile app was developed using native Android programming with Kotlin, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.

Our Solution

For language translation, we meticulously collected and updated language translation sheets provided by Go Food. This involved a thorough comparison and manual updating of all app content in multiple languages within the database. By leveraging this approach, we ensured that users across various regions could access the app in their preferred language, fostering greater engagement and user satisfaction.

To address the complexity of currency conversion, we integrated a third-party API into the app infrastructure. This API facilitated real-time currency conversion, updating exchange rates every hour from the backend.

With this, we enabled the client to display prices accurately in users’ local currencies, minimizing discrepancies and enhancing trust in transactions. Additionally, after implementing the third-party API and resolving all the challenges, we found the application to be stable.
